On Friday September 8th during the halftime of Cedar Catholics Varsity Football game, the winner of the Ford truck was chosen. This year's winners were Darin & Lisa Pick, of Hartington. They have 3 children, Samantha, Ryan & Savannah who attend Holy Trinity Elementary School, in Hartington.
This year 1,262 tickets were sold for gross proceeds of $126,200 to benefit the Cedar Catholic Building Loan Fund for the debt on the building renovation project. There are some expenses to net approximately/over $121,000.
There is no limit on the number of tickets sold each year. We sell as many as possible to make the building loan payment which is more than the number of tickets we sell. The balance of the annual loan payments are paid through personal donations from several donors.
This was the eleventh year of vehicle raffles which was originally designated with the first vehicle donation to a new cooling and heating system for Cedar Catholic. A Ford F150 truck has been the gift all but four years of which 3 years a Ford SUV was donated and another year a Ford Mustang Convertible.
Over $1.2 million has been raised from vehicle raffles for the Cedar Catholic building renovation. We are more than grateful to some anonymous donors for the generous donations of limited edition and loaded up FORD vehicles.
The net proceeds from the first six vehicle raffles was saved until four years ago when building renovation started on the exterior of the building. The three following summers or by summer of 2016 all the interior updates were completed as well as a new electrical, heating and cooling system.
Catholic Development Director Joani Potts is the liaison/connection for the FORD vehicle gifts and directs the truck raffle for Cedar Catholic. The Raffle Committee consists of approximately 35 ticket sellers and 7 businesses who sell tickets for the truck at $100 per ticket during July, August and part of September each year. Kleinschmit Trucking transports the truck to area events to promote it. The drawing for the truck winner has traditionally been at half time of the Homecoming game each year with all the excitement that evening. Many local, regional and alumni support this fundraising event.
The goal is to have a campaign soon to complete the building loan then truck raffle proceeds could assist the budget.
Congratulations to the Pick family on their raffle winning! Enjoy that truck!
