Cedar Students Participate in Advent Activities

The Cedar Catholic faculty and students are preparing for the birth of Jesus with many activities for Advent. They have a Jesse Tree branch in the entryway of school and each day they hang a new ornament.  Each ornament is part of the Old Testament and shows a connection with Jesus Christ.
During the morning announcements, over the intercom, the school  listens to a short summary about the daily ornament. Then in each 1st period classroom teachers read and listen to the scripture for the day.  Each teacher has a book titled Sacred Reading for Advent and Christmas.  There is also a short meditation after each scripture verse.  It is important that the students can hear the daily scripture verse during this Advent season.
Also, each student has an Advent bingo card.  Each day there will be a clue about something with Advent.  If they find the answer on their bingo card, they cross it off.  Once they get a bingo, Mrs. Dendinger will give them a prize of candy.  This is something fun to do while preparing for the birth our our Savior.
The Campus Ministers decorated two Christmas trees within the school and then put up the Nativity scene in the entryway.  They will also do a diaper drive to collect diapers and money to be sent to the Christ Child Society in Omaha.
