CSW: Poetry Out Loud Contest

Cedar Catholic hosted their Poetry Out Loud Contest on Thursday afternoon after the dress-up dinner.  Thank you to Father Owen Korte for volunteering to be the Master of Ceremony.  The high school finalists were Skyler Sudbeck, Megan Heimes, Jayda Bernecker, Hannah Kleinschmit, and Marie Rokusek.  Congratulations to all of the outstanding performers.  The winners of the contest are both sophomores.  Jayda Bernecker earned first place and Hannah Kleinschmit earned second place.  Both ladies will be advancing to the Nebraska Regional Poetry Out Loud Contest in Norfolk on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, 4:00pm -5:30pm at the Norfolk Arts Center.   The top performer at the regional competition will advance to the state competition at Sheldon Museum of Art in Lincoln on Sunday, March 11, 2018, 1:30-4:30 pm.  

Poetry Out Loud is free program that helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence and learn about our literary heritage. Students also have the opportunity to compete for a free trip to Washington DC and over $50,000 in scholarships and prizes.
