The Guidance Department at Cedar Catholic High School follows the philosophy that each student is a child of God. The Guidance Department is in existence to assist the students in realizing their potentials and capabilities in their academic, social, personal, and career development through the participation in the Guidance Program activities.
The counselor will serve as both educator and facilitator for the growth and development of every student. The counselor will remain highly responsive to the individual and groups needs of every student. The Guidance Department's primary responsibilities include counseling, assessment, program development and implementation, consulting, and evaluating.
In order to facilitate students' growth and development, the counselor will utilize the expertise of faculty, parents, family members, resource people, and significant others who are important in successful attainment of the students' potential.
The main emphasis of the counseling department is to promote the development life skills, career planning, educational planning, and enhancement of interpersonal relations with others.
The school counselor is available to meet with students and their parents on an individual or group basis.
Parents are encouraged to notify counselors of any situations that may affect their student’s emotional health, or academic progress.
